  48. One does not "get" GDOS, one receives it (beware of anything like this!).
  49. It is included with any program that uses it.  The first thing one does with
  50. such a program is replace GDOS.PRG with G+PLUS.PRG.  G+PLUS is a better GDOS,
  51. which does not slow down the machine, allows one to select ASSIGN.SYS files,
  52. and does not screw up non-GDOS apps like the original atari GDOS does.  It is
  53. a comercial product (G+PLUS), and costs about $35.

  96.   I just got Sozobon C from terminator and I'm trying to get it up and running.
  97. My problem is that when I type "cc filename.c" I get an error message to the
  98. effect that "filename.c is not a known suffix" (or something like that).
  99. Does anyone know what's wrong (probably something simple).  I set up the
  100. directories like the docs say, as well as the indicated environmental
  101. variables (PATH, INCLUDE, TMP, etc).  I'm using the Pcommand shell if that
  102. makes any difference (got to print out those gulam docs!).
  103.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanx.

  131. Sorry, that line of reasoning seems retarded.  I understand that Atari
  132. cannot afford to give away disks and manuals and software.  And if
  133. developer information includes advance notice of corporate strategy
  134. (e.g.: notice of pending new products), then yes, Atari must ask for
  135. some restraint.  They deserve it, in that case.

  137. But what was posted hardly warrants any concern from Atari -- if anything,
  138. they should be happy to see such information spread to the four winds.  No
  139. one at Atari had to type it up & post it, nor pay for distribution.  If it
  140. makes a feature of their product line more accessible, then what in god's
  141. name is the harm in that?  So what if someone propagates the information
  142. and doesn't dot their i's correctly?  It's regrettable, but hardly a tragedy
  143. or legal liability for Atari.  What do you think disclaimers are for?

  151. people for telling others how to program their machines.  Not for giving
  152. *incorrect* information, mind, just information.

  154. What was posted wasn't source code.  It didn't cause a loss of whatever
  155. competitive edge Atari may have.  I'm not flaming Kevin Clendenien, and
  156. Atari may have the legal rights to build fences around anything they damn
  157. well please, but it sure seems dumb in cases like this.  What, are they
  158. in business to sell hardware or developer kits??
